The Year 2005
Summer
And the living is easier … we hope.
The Memorial Day weekend, the last weekend in May, is the normative
start of the summer season in New England. But, this year, the weather
was entirely uncooperative. We waited through a dreary and cold set of
days.
Then, in a twinkling, the hot and
hazy days of summer came swiftly into our midst. We shut off the heating
and looked to see if our air conditioners were available.
And, nearly as swiftly, the weather
is back to a more sedate and typical late spring fare.
So, we look to the official start of
the summer when, this week, the solstice arrives.
Yes, on June 21, the longest day of
the year in terms of daylight, we burst forth to receive the more
temperate climate and pace of the season.
Indeed, the public schools are
winding down. The yellow school buses will sit in abeyance for the next
few months and folks will look to vacation and plans for relaxation and
leisure.
Enjoy and relax.
Fall is yet to come. |
