The Week – Dec. 9
The Year – 2002

Special Election – 2003

The selectmen have set the date for the special election to fill the vacancy on the board.

With the advice and information offered to them by Town Clerk, Ron Fucile, the Board decided to have the election on the second Saturday in February – February 8, 2003.

Now, the process begins.

Candidates wishing to campaign for the office should take out nomination papers to have at least fifty valid signatures certified in order to be on the ballot.

December is the busy holiday season and the month of January is usually a cold and wintry time – with darkness setting in early.

The election will be upon us very soon.

Citizens are urged to think about this important event. Think about people you would support and ask them to consider running for the office.

Think carefully about the candidates who do collect signatures and have their names on the ballot. The Board of Selectmen is the governing board of the town.

This election is important for the welfare of everyone in town. Each voter is urged to set aside time to consider the candidates and to determine the right candidate to support.
