The Week – Jan. 6

The Year – 2003

          Special Election

In the midst of this snowy season, and the aftermath of the December holidays, we will remind you of the special election to be held on Saturday, February 8th.

The Board of Selectmen set this election to fill the unexpired term of the late John Hill.

As we look ahead to the Spring Town meeting, and the budget discussions, and you consider the significance of the Board setting municipal priorities, we should think carefully about the three candidates running for office.

Every election in our town is important. Set the date and plan to participate.

          Budgets, Budgets

Yes, it is that time again. Town departments are reviewing their needs and translating those needs into budget proposals for fiscal year 2004.

As we all know, the state has revenue limitations of its own. It will be a very difficult time for department heads to reconcile their needs with the fiscal realities.

          Weather, weather or not

Barely into the first month of January, we are seeing an old fashioned snowy winter here. Already we have seen more snow pile up than we had all of last year. And, the predictions are that this weather pattern will continue.

Be safe and be healthy.
