Stay
Cool in Summer
The three H
days are here for a while. Hazy, hot, and humid are the
ingredients for a sweltering time in July.
With
youngsters on summer vacation, parents assume the age-old task of
helping their children find ways to relax and enjoy the vacation –
but not chill out too much.
Driving by
playgrounds, we all see the wealth of games being played by kids
of all ages. The pools are crowded. The streets continue to be
pathways for joggers and skate board enthusiasts.
Exercise
does occupy a great deal of time for many.
However, we
would like to remind the students here of the critical nature of
the Walpole Public Schools summer reading program. It is all too
easy to put off the required reading until the start of school
approaches in late August.
The problem
may be that the books may not be available in the library or in
the bookstores. And, the press of time may make it difficult to
finish the reading.
Here’s
a reminder.
The summer
reading program for high school students is a very important
aspect of the first term in September. Remember that the essay to
be written in class the first of school will count 10% of that
first term grade.
In order to
do well, it is recommended that students read their books slowly
and carefully and take notes.
Bring in the
notes to school in order that the detail information about the
book will be available for you.
So ……..
enjoy the
vacation…… and keep in mind the specific requirements of the
summer reading program.
