Town Politics

The crisp fall air has arrived. Fall sports are underway.

And, the season of politics is in session.

1. The annual fall town meeting will begin a few weeks… with zoning issues being the main focus.
2. The selectmen will continue to consider the future of their board with a four-person composition. The question of holding a special election to bring the board up to five persons needs consideration.


Miscellaneous …


1. We are still puzzled over the disappearance of a young man from Walpole. A few weeks ago, he boarded an MBTA bus and went off to work. To date, he has not been seen since. There does not seem to be any reason or cause for the disappearance. We offer our thoughts and concern to his family in their distress.
2. For the first time in this century, the Boston red Sox continue playing ball as they begin the first round of the post-season competition – looking ahead to the World Series. With games starting late at night, there will be many tired fans struggling to work and school.
3. The grand opening of the new Super Store – the Big Y – has prompted other stores in Walpole to offer competitive promotions and sales. It will take time for residents to decide which super store offers the best in product and price.
